Broken Home, Broken Soul
In chapter 35, Epigraph, of Zachary Masons The Lost Books of the Odyssey, Odysseus finds his old home broken down and seized by others. This can easily be seen as a representation of his own life, or as I am insinuating, his soul.
When Odysseus returns to find his old home in wreckage ("tables overturned and broken, shattered bowls, a footbath") he wanted to immediately start setting things right but first realizes he must investigate what is and had happened in his home while he was away. When he disguises himself as a beggar to spy on his house to test their loyalty he is showing
